Algarve Railway Line Electrification Project

The project, developed in a consortium, consisted of the electrification of the 10 km section between Tunes and Lagos of the Algarve Railway Line in the South of Portugal. The project had as its main goal the implementation of a more competitive service, improving the conditions of safety and boosting the growth of the railway usage in the region.
The electrification of the Algarve Railway Line in the 25 kV / 50 Hz system on the Tunes - Lagos section, included the installation of the Traction Current Return and Protection Lands (RCT + TP) system and the execution of the accessory works to guarantee the conditions of electrification. The catenary system to be implemented was the PL12, which admits maximum speeds of 220 km / h, considering parameters for a maximum speed of 160 km / h.

The services provided were related to Geology and Geotechnics Studies, New access roads and repositioning of existing ones, Retaining Walls Design, Bridges, Expropriations and Environmental Studies. The projects covered the Preliminary Design, Detailed Design and Technical Assistance phases.
