Kossihouen Municipal Landfill Detail Design, located about 2 km from the village of Kossihouen near Abidjan, will be the final destination of the Abidjan metropolitan area solid wastes, with global capacity of 8 200 000 tonnes of non-hazardous municipal solid waste corresponding to a life span of 5 years. Conceptually it consists of a first phase (Casier 1) with two cells for a total capacity of around 800 000 m3, to be put into service in 6 months time, and a second phase (Casier 2) with 12 cells and a total capacity of 8 900 000 m3.
The provision of services aims to prepare the Landfill Execution Project with the study to be developed in two implementation phases, including:
a) PHASE 1: casier 1, passive barrier, active barrier consisting of hdpe geomembrane, bottom and surface drainage system, connection of networks to the main collector, connection of leachate, contaminated water and rainwater networks, provisional access road to the landfill and weighbridge.
b) PHASE 2: leachate treatment system by reverse osmosis, definitive access road, casier 2 and corresponding complementary premises.
